Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest experiences a family can face. During the pandemic, I witnessed just how painful that process could be, especially when restrictions meant many families weren’t allowed to be with their pets during their final moments. That heartbreaking reality left a deep impression on me, both as a vet and as a pet owner.
It was during this time that the idea for Home Goodbye began to take shape. I started to reflect on what really matters at the end of a pet’s life: comfort, calm, familiarity, and the opportunity to say goodbye with love. For some families, being at home provides exactly that.
When my own dog, Dolly, reached the end of her life, I knew I wanted her final moments to be peaceful and gentle, in the place she felt safest, her home. That experience shaped the way I thought about end-of-life care and the role we, as vets, can play in making it more compassionate.
What Is Home Euthanasia for Pets?
Home euthanasia is the process of providing veterinary end-of-life care in a pet’s own environment. Rather than travelling to a clinic, which can be stressful for both pets and owners, families can say goodbye in a familiar setting—on their pet’s favourite bed, in the garden, or wherever they feel most at peace.
This approach isn’t right for everyone. But for those who value privacy, comfort, and a calm goodbye, home euthanasia can offer a sense of peace and closure. It can also reduce the stress and anxiety that some pets feel in unfamiliar clinical environments.
Why I Created Home Goodbye

Watch the short video below where I share the story of why creating peaceful, compassionate end-of-life experiences for pets matters so deeply to me.
As a vet with years of experience, I wanted to make this choice more accessible for pet owners across London. Home Goodbye was founded to offer gentle, respectful end-of-life care in the comfort of home. My goal is to support families through one of the most emotional and difficult parts of the pet ownership journey.
Every family, every pet, and every goodbye is unique. That’s why Home Goodbye focuses on creating a tailored, compassionate experience—one that honours the bond you share with your pet.
