Dr Paul Manktelow MRCVS

I’m Dr Paul Manktelow, a professional vet with over 20 years’ experience in the charity sector. I created Home Goodbye in response to both my professional and personal experiences. As a vet during the pandemic, I quickly recognised that a devastating impact of lockdown was that it separated pet owners from their pets during their final moments. I found this incredibly troubling and truly felt there should be something else on offer.

And as a pet owner? When it was time to say goodbye to my own dog, Dolly, I wanted her to pass at home. This lovely, peaceful experience reassured me that I’d done the best for her right up to the end of her life.

So, I want all pet owners to have access to this kind of goodbye, because it’s my firm belief that home euthanasia offers both pet and owner the chance to spend those final moments without the stress of separation. By creating Home Goodbye, I aim to provide what experience has taught me is essential: a calm, peaceful and dignified end that every beloved pet deserves, alongside their owner and with the full support that pet owners need.

Dr Jack Meier MRCVS

I’m Dr Jack Meier, a compassionate small animal veterinary surgeon, and a 2017 graduate of Cambridge University who has a passion for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.

As the head vet at a large hospital in the charity sector, my role blends clinical excellence with effective management. However, my true calling is to offer a more personal and comforting service to our beloved pets in their final moments.

Since joining Home Goodbye in January 2023, I’ve had the privilege of providing in-home euthanasia services. It’s been deeply rewarding to witness pets peacefully transition in their familiar surroundings, bringing solace to grateful owners.

At Home Goodbye, we prioritize compassion, professionalism, and empathy. It’s an honour to offer this invaluable service, and to be able to help families and their cherished pets in their final moments.

Annie Clark RVN

I’m Annie, and you’ll first meet me as the voice on the Home Goodbye phone. As a Critical Care and Emergency Veterinary Nurse with over 15 years’ experience, I understand owners’ worries about pet health. With full bereavement training from the Blue Cross, I’m here to help guide and support owners through this difficult time – one which is full of questions, concerns, and emotional stress.

As a pet-owner too, I’ve been where you are now, looking for answers and facing heart-breaking decisions about pet euthanasia. Because I know how it feels in both the before and after stages, my support also extends beyond the booking process and includes supporting pet owners after losing a beloved pet.
